Three Cheese Garlic Biscuits

Ingredients:

2 cups Flour
2 Tbsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 tsp. Garlic Salt/Garlic Powder
2/3 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2/3 cup Parmesan Cheese
2/3 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 cup Shortening
2/3 cup Buttermilk

Pre-Baking Ingredients

2 tsp. Butter
Garlic Salt to Taste (optional)
Extra Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Directions:

Mix Flour, Baking Powder, Salt, and Baking Soda, Garlic Salt/Powder, and cheeses in a medium sized mixing bowl. Add shortening and knead by hand until the mixture is a uniform crumbly dough. Add buttermilk and knead dough until consistent. Place mixture on a floured cutting board and spread out into a flat mass about 3/4 inches thick. Use a large cookie/biscuit cutter to make biscuits. Reknead the dough and spread as required.

Melt Butter and spread over the bicuit tops before placing biscuits in the oven. You can add Garlic Salt/Powder to the butter for added flavor.

Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 425°F for 6-10 minutes. Remove from oven, place extra cheddar on the biscuit tops. Return them to the oven for an additional 2 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

Makes about 8 large biscuits.
