Jim Murphree

Jim Murphree has served as agency owner and president from 1993-1998 and from 2002- present. Jim is an active member of the Blount County community and served as an Alabama State Representative from 1994-1998. He also serves on the board of directors and as president of the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce. He is a member and past president of the Rotary Club.

Jim has over twenty years of experience in the insurance industry. He joined Huie Insurance in 1988 and purchased the agency in 1993, renaming it Jim Murphree Insurance. During his first year of ownership, the agency became the county's top producer for commercial and municipality insurance.

Jim has served on the Board of Director for the Alabama Independent Insurance Association, a professional organization dedicated to ensuring the success of independent agencies and learning how these agencies can best serve their customers. He is also a former legislative chairman for the organization.

Jim has been an avid runner and weight lifter since his high school days at Oneonta City School. He organized Blount County's Covered Bridge Run in 2007. He and his children, Hannah and Andrew, have run the race for the last five years. Jim also regularly participates in regional and national runs.

He attended the University of Alabama.
