Biography
My name is Jerren David Hawkins, and I am the son of Jerry and Karen Hawkins of Oneonta, Alabama. I was born on June 12, 1977. I have an older brother who is a radio disc jockey in New Orleans, Louisiana. I grew up in Oneonta, Alabama where I attended church at Dayspring Tabernacle. While at Dayspring Tabernacle, I began playing the drums for our church praise and worship team. I went to school at Oneonta City School and graduated in 1995. I began dating Rachel Self, whom I attended church with, in May of 1995. A few months later, I began college at Wallace State Community College where I received an AAS degree in 1998. On September 12, 1998, Rachel and I were married. In late 1998, Nick Longshore asked me if I wanted to join the band, Someday Heaven. I have been involved with Someday Heaven for about four years. In March of 2001, Rachel & I moved from Oneonta to Cahaba Heights in Birmingham, Alabama. We began attending The Church at Shelby Crossings around June of 2002. I began playing the drums with our church’s praise band in September 2002.
