Rachel Hawkins
Biography
My name is Rachel Amber Hawkins, formerly Rachel Amber Self. I was born on April 10, 1980 to my parents, Donald and Donna Self. I have two younger sisters, Jessica and Brittany Self. We lived in Oneonta, Alabama. I attended school at Oneonta City School until I graduated in 1998. I attended First Baptist Church of Oneonta, where I was involved with many things such as: G.A.’s, junior high choir, the youth group, VBS assistant, and preschool choir assistant. In 1993, a friend from school invited me to attend one of her Wednesday night youth group meetings. At this time, I became involved with Dayspring Tabernacle in Oneonta. I was also involved in many different activities at this church too. I attended youth retreats, camps, Christian concerts, a mission trip to Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, and many other things. While attending Dayspring, I met Jerren Hawkins. Jerren and I began dating on May 24, 1995. In November of 1997, Jerren asked me to marry him. Then, on September 12, 1998, Jerren and I
were married at the Springville House in Springville, Alabama. We attended the Oneonta Worship Center until we moved to Birmingham, Alabama in March of 2001.
In late 1998, Nicholas Longshore asked Jerren to join the praise and worship band, Someday Heaven. Jerren and I have been involved with this ministry for several years. The band, Someday Heaven, has truly been a blessing in both of our lives.
After moving to Cahaba Heights in Birmingham, Alabama, Jerren and I began attending The Church at Brookhills. This is where we were told about the church we now attend, which is the daughter church out of Brookhills, called The Church at Shelby Crossings in Pelham, Alabama. I am currently attending college at Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama.
